About UsTerri Darnell
This is my eighth year working as a gifted cluster teacher at Thoroughgood Elementary. Prior to working at Thoroughgood, I served as gifted resource teacher at Linkhorn Park Math/Science Academy as well as Seatack Elementary. This is my 21st year working in the Virginia Beach City Public School system. I have also worked as a third grade cluster teacher, Education Consultant for Old Dominion University, and as the Founder/Director of the ODU-Tidewater Writing Project Summer Writing Camp. I am mother to Kalli, a junior at Old Dominion University, and Ben, an eleven grader at Cox High School. My husband, Scott, is an attorney for the Virginia Attorney General's Office. I hold a bachelor's degree in Family and Child Development from Virginia Tech, a master's degree in Elementary Education from Old Dominion University, and a gifted education endorsement from the University of Virginia. It is a joy working with our vast talent pool of students at Thoroughgood. I look forward to a wonderful year with your child and classroom teacher! You can contact me at Teresa[email protected]. |

This is my second year at Thoroughgood Elementary School. I get the pleasure of working with the kindergarten classes and some of the first grade classes on Wednesdays.
In addition to my work here, I also work with the kindergarten and first grade classes at John B. Dey Elementary School each week. I have worked in VBCPS as a classroom teacher and as a gifted resource teacher for 11 years. My husband is a pilot in the US Navy and we have two children. My older son, Carter is a fourth grader this year and my younger son, Sawyer is in kindergarten.
I hold a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology & Applied Physiology as well one for Elementary Education from the University of Colorado, and a gifted education endorsement from the University of Virginia.
I am so excited to work with the students, parents, and teachers of Thoroughgood!
